ABOUT ME

season headshot.jpg

"I am devoted to supporting and helping people find individualized ways to reduce stress, deepen relational connections and function in a healthy adaptive way. I also love working with family systems and I believe it takes a village to raise a child. Life and parenthood can be challenging and every adult and child needs support."

Season Cain, MSW, LCSW is a licensed psychotherapist working with adults, children and families.  She has over 20 years of experience providing therapy and teaching parenting classes and is currently an Adjunct Professor at USC Graduate School of Social Work. She received a Master of Science in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University in New York, and is licensed in California, Florida and Utah. Season has extensive training in mental health and working with family systems. In the past she was the Program Coordinator for Saint Johns Hospital Day Treatment Intensive Preschool. She was also a clinical supervisor for Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic and a therapist for an outpatient teen counseling clinic as well as a therapist for many years providing one on one counseling to adults. Most importantly she is a loving parent to two children and enjoys sharing her knowledge and offering support to others.

In practice, Season offers individual and family therapy using a relationship based approach for an array of difficulties including trauma, substance abuse, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, parent child problems, behavioral problems, autism and attachment and adjustment issues. She uses a holistic approach teaching mindfulness and positive coping strategies as well as cognitive behavioral therapy. She is also a trained play therapist as play is a child’s main mean of communication.  Season is unique in that she also offers in home, or out of the office services as well as video sessions in order to better serve her clients. She also offers outdoor nature therapy, equestrian therapy and recreational therapy. Season has also recently started providing combat trauma therapy to Veterans through the Give an Hour organization. Season also offers Career Life Coaching sessions which are not mental health therapy sessions.

Season is also the Founder and President of Saddle of Love, a non-profit organization that provides Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your office hours?

I offer my services 7 days a week during the day and evening as well. I believe it is essential to meet the needs of the families I work with and sometimes evenings and weekends may serve families better. Additionally, I do offer sessions over the phone or internet through Skype as well.

How long is a session?

Typically each session lasts 45 min.

How many sessions does therapy require?

The number of sessions varies for each client depending upon their situation.  Some problems can be resolved within a few sessions whereas others can take longer.  One of the first steps I take when meeting with prospective clients is gathering a comprehensive understanding and assessment of the reasons for seeking counseling and the ways in which they have coped with their challenges in the past.  This allows us to identify and set attainable and individualized therapeutic goals which can be met in a timely manner.

Do you accept insurance?

My practice is fee-for-service; meaning that clients pay for each session.  However, depending on the type of plan, many clients submit their claims independently and are able to obtain full or partial reimbursement.  I provide a monthly billing statement which can be submitted by each client to their insurance agency for reimbursement.  I accept cash or check payments.
